BEAUTY

ECOSYSTEM, RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE

OBVERSE: female face surrounded by calla flowers; from her left hand a hummingbird takes flight, announcing the positive message of nature. The composition evokes the complete fusion of man and nature and the necessary positive balance between the elements. In the field, an equilateral triangle, symbol of harmony and proportion, marks the circle of the months from January to June; above 2022.

REVERSE: in the centre a female figure becoming a tree; the branches and leaves recall the continents of planet Earth, evoking the beauty of the relationship of man with nature and the balance between macrocosm and microcosm. In the field, an equilateral triangle, symbol of harmony and proportion, breaks the circle of the months from July to December.

Calendar medals are both a tradition and a date which the Italian Mint reserves, every year since 1981, for a selected and enthusiastic public.

The medals’ artworks and models are created by the students of the School of the Art of Medal-making,

a prestigious institution, definitely unique of its kind, which is part of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato S.p.A.

The passing of time is expressed on these medals in the language of art: days, months and the year itself flow from one face of the medal to the other and from one medal to the next.

These art products enjoy a widespread collecting and great success both as original presents and lucky gifts

for the New Year.

The 2022 Calendar Medal, “ECOSYSTEM, RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE”, is the second issued in this series and celebrates the ecosystem as a form of beauty springing from the harmony of man with nature.

The medal’s artwork and models are created by Lucrezia Delfini, a student of the School of the Art of Medal Making.
