5 euro Centenary of the Foundation of the Alpine Corps Association

Obverse: portrait of an Alpino, a trooper of the mountain Infantry Corps of the Italian Army of the same name, wearing his typical felt hat with a feather slightly tilted backwards. Around, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”; below, the name of the designer “PETRASSI”. Reverse: an Alpine trooper on the beat in a mountain area is portrayed with a mule, irreplaceable companion of the Alpini Corps ever since it was established. In the foreground, an edelweiss, symbol of courage and perseverance. Above, the arch-shaped inscription “Associazione Nazionale Alpini”; to the upper left, the value “5 EURO”; on the right, the dates “1919” and “2019”, i.e. the year of the Corps foundation and that of the coin’s issue respectively; below, the letter “R” identifying the Mint of Rome.
