A special tribute to Carlo Collodi, creator of the world’s most famous wooden puppet. The 10€ coin, in its original ‘doughnut-shaped’ design, can house the 2€ coin at its centre, creating a unique and evocative composition that further enhances the magic of the Pinocchio universe.
Obverse: at the top, the face of Mangiafuoco (fire-eater), a character from the famous fairy tale Pinocchio, inside his puppet theatre, which forms the backdrop to the coin. He is intent on pulling the strings of the puppets depicted on the right and left. At the bottom, wood shavings and a plane represent Geppetto, the carpenter who created Pinocchio, and the inscription "REPUBBLICA ITALIANA". At the left, the designer's signature "M. BONIFACIO".
Reverse: representation of the terrestrial globe with parallels and meridians. At the bottom, the inscription "CARLO COLLODI" and the "R" identifying the Mint of Rome. On the right, "10 EURO", the coin's value, and "2026", the year of the coin’s issue. At the bottom, on the right, "E.FERRETTI", the designer's signature.
