Obverse: in the centre, Pinocchio, the hero of Carlo Collodi's masterpiece, "The Adventures of Pinocchio: The Story of a Puppet", dancing. In the field, on the right, Pinocchio's shadow gazes in astonishment at the Talking Cricket on the tip of his long nose, which is growing from telling one of his lies. At the top "CARLO COLLODI" along with the dates "1826" and "2026", respectively, the celebrated author's birth year and the coin's issue year. On the left "R", identifying the Mint of Rome. On the right "RI", acronym for the Italian Republic. At the bottom "PINOCCHIO" and, on the right, the monogram "MB", signature of the designer. Arch-shaped, the twelve stars of the European Union.
