5 euro silver coin Obverse: detail from the painting St. Filippo Neri in prayer created by the workshop of Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino (1591-1666), conserved at the Pinacoteca Nazionale of Bologna; around, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”. Reverse: representation of a detail from the fresco St. Filippo Neri among his pupils, by an unknown artist, conserved at the Lateran Baptistery in Rome. In exergue, the dates “1515 2015”, i.e. the year of the anniversary and that of the coin’s issue respectively, and the value “5 EURO”; at the base, the name of the designer “MOMONI”; on the right, the letter “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; above, arch-shaped inscription “SAN FILIPPO NERI”. 2 euro coin Obverse: in the field a composition symbolizing the fertility of Earth: on a semicircle standing for the terrestrial globe, a seed fed by water and about to germinate; above the Earth, a vine shoot, an olive branch and a sheaf of wheat growing out of a tree trunk; above, arch-shaped inscription “NUTRIRE IL PIANETA”; on the left, initials of the designer Maria Grazia Urbani, “MGU”; on the right, acronym of the Italian Republic “RI” and the letter “R” identifying the Mint of Rome; in the middle, logo of the EXPO MILANO 2015; all around, the twelve stars of the European Union.
